Liberal Party vice-presidential candidate and Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo overtook opponent Sen. Ferndinand “Bongbong” Marcos, according to partial and unofficial election results as of 3:20 a.m., Tuesday morning.
According to the count, Robredo had 12,860,722 votes, while Marcos had 12,860,147.
This year's vice presidential race is as closely watched as the presidential derby as Marcos, the son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, attempts to inch his way closer to Malacañang.
However, Robredo, the widow of Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, made major gains late in the campaign and caught up with Marcos' poll numbers.
