A couple of fishermen are now expressing their gratitude towards the presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte. They believe that he is the reason why China is now allowing them to fish near the Scarborough Shoal.
The Filipino fishermen are happy that the Chinese Coast Guard is now light with them. They think that the reason behind the sudden change of the way Chinese treat the fishermen is because Duterte spoke to the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua who made a courtesy call to Duterte.
The fisherment went to the Scarborough shoal to fish and they were expected to be there for 2 weeks but it was made easier in just 4 days because the Chinese allowed them to.
“Pagdating nung malaking barko ng Coast Guard nila, may binaba sila na dalawang rubber boat. Tapos lumapit samin, tiningnan lang naman kami. Tapos lumipat sa ibang Bangka pero umikot ikot lang sila' Saldy said.
"Bigla silang bumait ngayon. Ewan ko ba. Parang may pinakain ata si Duterte sa kanila,” he added.
