Remember the Chef Who Promised to Give Free Cakes if Duterte Wins? He Changed His Statement

Monday, May 9, 2016

Based on the latest partial, unofficial election results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is consistenly leading the presidential race. Netizens then went back to the chef who earlier promised to give free cakes worth P10 million. But for some reasons, he changed his statement.

As of 12:30 am this Tuesday, Duterte leads by far, with more than 5.5 million votes higher than that of the votes for former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas. Traling at third is Sen. Grace Poe, who has just conceded to Duterte. Meanwhile, VP Jejomar Binay landed on fourth, while Sen. Miriam-Defensor Santiago is at fifth and last spot.

For vice president, LP bet Leni Robredo, who earlier cast her vote late because the vote counting machine (VCM) malfunctioned and had to be replaced twice, followed Marcos. Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano is on the third spot, while Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero lands fourth. Trillanes and Honasan are fifth and sixth, respectively.

As we reported back in November, Chef Jack Labang of Quim’s Cake posted on his Facebook, promising everyone that he will give free cakes worth P10 million in case if Duterte will be elected as the next president. He initially offered free cakes worth P5 million, but later increased it to P10 million, and accused Duterte of lying to the people.

But this Monday night, Chef Labang have lowered his tone but has changed his statement. And although he said he still plans to give free cakes, he demanded a condition and did not mention the worth of the cake that he will give. This is after tons of netizens (mostly Duterte supporters) flocked to his Quim’s Cake Facebook page, demanding him to keep his earlier promise and sent them the free cakes.

"The people have spoken. Congrats to our new leader! As promised we will be happy to share our cakes for as long as he will also deliver his promise to solve criminality in 3-6 months." Chef Labang wrote, who changed his name on Facebook. Some time ago, he has been a guest at ABS-CBN's morning show 'Umagang KayGanda' where he shared some of his recipes.

  6. Calling all Duterte supporters!!! Let's surprise this braggart by going in his store in groups of 5 or more. Then order the cakes that we want with drinks of course. When it's time to pay, we only pay for our drinks & tell him.... Charge to experince nalang yung cakes!
