Why Duterte Should Not Trust Cayetano

Monday, May 16, 2016

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte should not let individuals with hidden agenda keep in his camp if he aims for a true modification.

This writer has nothing to do with Sen. Cayetano personally,my opinion is objective based on his political performance locally and nationally.

Personally, Duterte was unknown to Cayetano two years ago. Cayetano always had a bigger ego ever since he became a senator.

The following are some of the reasons why President Duterte should not give his full trust to Sen. Cayetano

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano wanted to be president.

Sen. Cayetano has been always and forever arrogant when answering questions during interviews. In this 2014 video with Pinky Webb, he told the reporter “I don’t want to run, I want to win”. When asked if he consider running for vice president, he said “No, flat tire ka e, ano bang dinadasal ng bawat vice president?” Although the video did not show the full statement of Cayetano, we can agree that what he means was, every vice president is praying that something should happen to the president so they can be the president. Is this what he was praying for when he agreed to become Duterte’s running mate? His arrogance has no limit.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano Charged for Graft

On 2014, Senator Alan Cayetano and wife Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano face graft raps – the senator for alleged PDAF misuse, and the couple for the alleged procurement of overpriced multicabs. Lawyer and Polytechnic University of the Philippines Professor Rod Vera filed 3 separate complaints over a series of alleged offenses of the senator and his wife, Taguig Mayor Maria Laarni “Lani” Cayetano.

Two graft complaints were filed against Senator Cayetano for the alleged misuse of his PDAF, while a plunder complaint was filed against the Taguig mayor over the alleged hiring of 3,188 ghost employees for Taguig City.

Cayetano’s second graft complaint with his wife and the Taguig city council members as his co-accused, involves the purchase of 18 multi-cabs amounting to P498,000 ($11,381) each.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano reportedly accepted a Bribe from Aquino to impeach former chief Justice Renato Corona
Cayetano is among the senators not named Miriam Defensor-Santiago, and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, who allegedly accepted bribes from President Benigno Aquino III. The bribe, which came in form of DAF was estimated to be more than 100 million according to Sen. Panfilo Lacson. Cayetano was among the top 5 Senators who received the biggest chunk of the said fund.
With the three main reasons above, I think the president is in serious trouble if he trusts someone like Cayetano.

Duterte needed someone who is from Metro Manila to be his sidekick during his presidential run, and Cayetano is the last choice. Now that the worst option can be discarded, it is logical enough to leave Cayetano where his mouth is – an arrogant, ambitious , dirty politician.
No wonder why people rejected him despite being Duterte’s running mate.
